Gemma & Andrew: The Wedding Day at the Drayton Manor Hotel

I initially met Gemma and Andrew back in December for their pre-wedding shoot. You can see the story of that day here. A few short months later and it was the day of the special couple's wedding at Drayton Manor Hotel.

I met Gemma at the hotel on the morning of her wedding day whilst she was having her hair styled. There was a refreshing calmness to the morning’s bridal preparations, but I'm not surprised considering Gemma and Andrew have been waiting for their wedding day for nearly sixteen years. No nerves were on show, Gemma has obviously known that Andrew was the man for her for a long time. It's one of the many reasons that make them such a special couple.

It wasn't long before the mother of the bride joined us, as well as Gemma's maid of honour Nic, her friend Kelly, and daughter Millie too. It was a laughter-filled morning, which I felt honoured to share with them. Later Andrew arrived with his best men in tow. I joined them at the hotel bar whilst Gemma and Andrew's young son, Alfie (the epitome of a gentlemen), put the finishing touches to his speech. The arriving wedding guests mingled in the bar whilst being entertained by Aaron Booton and his acoustic guitar.

After Gemma and Andrew's ceremony, we were driven by golf cart into Drayton Manor’s theme park itself, along with Alfie and Millie. We headed for the carousel for some fun shots, where I perfected my talent of riding a giant carousel chicken backwards, and taking photos whilst going up and down. It was an exciting moment, and the family have some lovely photos to remind them of such a unique wedding day experience. The day continued with a reception meal, followed by some top-notch speeches, with a special mention to Alfie for rounding them off with a great joke. A beautiful sunset, cutting of the cake, tossing the bouquet, and Gemma and Andrew's first dance as man and wife rounded off their special day with their guests joining them on the dance floor for the remainder of the evening.

Below are just a few of the memories from their day, and if you scroll all the way down, you'll get to see me, on the aforementioned giant carousel chicken, taking photos of the couple. A big thank you to Andrew for capturing that moment for posterity.
