Family Portrait Photography Shoot in Bantock Park: The Price Osbourne Family
"We have two little bundles of fun who love life. We wanted to capture their personalities with some natural family photographs."
"We LOVE the pictures! They capture the dynamics of our family beautifully. Phil was wonderful with us all and made us feel so relaxed and at ease during our time with him. Nothing was too much trouble and the kids loved him! The end results are amazing and we are chuffed to bits! Thank you."
Toby and I live just around the corner from St. Bartholomew's Primary in Wolverhampton. We can hear all the children having fun during their lunchtime breaks from our garden. Through our neighbours, who have children who attend St Bart’s school, we’ve got involved with the excellent St Bart’s Parents’ and Families’ Association. They do loads of great work raising money for the school, and are a very active and welcoming community. Toby has hosted a quiz night for the school to raise money for their PFA group. He loved creating and hosting the quiz, and it was a great success. I also attended their Christmas Fair to help parents find out about the lifestyle family portrait shoots we offer.
Vicky and her loved ones are the latest St. Bart's family I've photographed, a few weeks back. The great British weather seemed to be conspiring against us as we had to reschedule twice due to heavy rain storms. Family shoots in light rain can be fun; we get out the umbrellas and the children can splash about in the puddles. Occasionally though the rain is just too heavy for a shoot to go ahead, we would have all ended up soaked. Luckily our third day was dry with a low risk of rain. We met up at Bantock Park for the session with a plan to stroll around the park and end up at the playground.
However, between our first planned shoot date and the day we actually got to take the pictures, Lilly's front two baby teeth fell out! These things happen, I think the temporary gap adds to her character, and helps capture a specific time in her childhood that she'll be able to look back on and enjoy when she's older.
Not all parents want to get in front of the camera during a family shoot, and prefer to let their little ones be the centre of attention. I could tell as soon as we met up that Vicky and Darren were fun and relaxed parents, who were happy to be in some photos with Scarlett and Lilly. I like to let the children take the lead on a family shoot, it's important to me that they have fun, as it helps me capture them enjoying themselves whilst showing off their personalities.
Lilly was a star and loved the camera. When I asked he if she had any idea of photos she'd like to try, she was brimming with fun ideas and faces. I think I'd describe Scarlett as a wonderful little whirlwind. I'm pretty confident her parents would agree with the description, as she brilliantly displayed every emotion in the book allowing me to photograph her distinctive character perfectly.
I work hard to ensure family shoots are fun for everyone involved, but with Vicky and her family there was no work needed. We got on like the proverbial house on fire, and had a whale of a time. She’s promised me that she’s going to come back to Bantock Park to join Toby and me for one of our boot camp sessions, and I’m really looking forward to seeing her again.
Vicky and Darren, you have a lovely little family, it was a pleasure spending a great afternoon with you all.
If you’d like an outdoor shoot for your own family, we’d love to hear from you! It’s a great idea for something different to do during the school breaks, and you’ll end up with some amazing pictures to share, too. Just get in touch via our website or Facebook.
