Fairlawns Hotel Wedding Day Photography: Kelly & James

I originally met Kelly and Jimmy back in 2015. They were guests at a wedding I was photographing and we got along very well that day. They said they loved my style and approach, so when they came to plan their own wedding day they got in touch. Luckily their date was still available, so they got themselves booked. Their wedding day was held at The Fairlawns Hotel and Spa at the end of last summer. It's an intimate venue in Aldridge, situated between Walsall and my home town of Sutton Coldfield. We'd previously met up and had some fun there during their pre-shoot. They must take the weather with them wherever they go, as both their pre-shoot and wedding day was bathed in glorious sunshine.

Kelly and Jimmy are an admirably laid-back and relaxed couple. They seemed to take the whole day in their stride. If either of them were nervous, you couldn't tell. I think they may win the award for the most laughter and giggles during a ceremony out of all our 2017 weddings. The fact that I’d met lots of their guests previously at the wedding where I’d met Kelly and Jimmy, meant I had the chance to say hello and catch up with some lovely people I’d not seen for a while. It’s always a nice bonus on a shoot when that’s the case.

Memorable moments from the day include; when Kelly was given an ‘interesting gift’ during bridal prep. You SO should have worn it, Kelly. Also, when all the sweets from the sweet table seemed to disappear, only to be discovered hidden by a tree for later consumption by a trio of cheeky children. A great game of wedding reception bingo, lead by a pretty awesome bingo caller. The moment Kelly revealed to me that her wedding dress actually had useful pockets! Plus some rather interesting and amusing poses by family members during the formal group photos.
